B. 2003

Sofia Klimkowski Arango is a multidisciplinary artist from Greenville South Carolina, currently based in Baltimore Maryland. Their work spans the breadth of weaving, sculpture, photography, and biology. They are driven by process oriented exploration and the intersections of craft and technology. They live in a world found between mosquito bites, dense smelling rain, and orange sunsets over blue mountains.

They have completed their BFA in Fiber (2025) at the Maryland Institute College of Art. They completed a residency at Pillow Fort Arts Center in Andes, NY and debuted their first solo show, Just Between You and Me, in Baltimore, MD. They have previously worked at Harnett Labs for W.A.R.P.E.D. (Weavers and Robots Producing Electronic Devices) with Dr. Cindy Harnett in Louisville, KY. They placed as a finalist with their team’s project, Living Records, at Biodesign Challenge 2025 where they were awarded the Outstanding Art Award.
